Perfil biográfico

Armando J. D. Silvestre, nascido a 11 de Fevereiro de 1968, natural de Vagos, casado, duas filhas.

Graus Académicos

Licenciado em Química Analítica pela Universidade de Aveiro em 1990.

Doutorado em Química pela Universidade de Aveiro em 1994.

Agregação em Química pela Universidade de Aveiro em 2008.

Posições

Professor Auxiliar do Departamento de Química da Universidade de Aveiro de Setembro de 1994 a Dezembro de 2001.

Professor Associado do Departamento de Química da Universidade de Aveiro desde Janeiro de 2002.

Leccionou aulas teóricas, teórico-práticas e práticas de diversas disciplinas das Licenciaturas em Química, Química Industrial e Gestão, Bioquímica e Química Alimentar, e das novas Licenciaturas em Química e Bioquímica.

Leccionou aulas teóricas de diversas disciplinas dos Mestrados em Química de Produtos Naturais e Alimentos, em Métodos Biomoleculares Avançados, em Métodos Instrumentais de Análise e Controle de Qualidade Analítica, em Engenharia dos Processos de Produção de Pasta de Papel, em Química de Produtos Naturais e em Química Analítica e Controle de Qualidade.

Participa em diversas actividades Departamentais, nomeadamente como Director de Curso da Lic. em Química, Sub-director de Curso do Mestrado em Materiais Derivados de Recursos Renováveis, Coordenador Socrates-Erasmus, e membro da Comissão de Equivalências.

Responsável por diversos equipamentos de GC, GC-MS, HPLC-MS do Departamento de Química.

Orientou/co-orientou até à conclusão 18 teses de Mestrado e 11 teses de Doutoramento. É actualmente responsável pela orientação/co-orientação de 3 estudantes de Doutoramento e de 3 estudantes de Mestrado.

Participou em diversos júris de provas académicas, alguns dos quais como arguente.

É membro do Editorial Advisory Board do Industrial Crops and Products.

Foi membro do Editorial Advisory Board do Journal of Wood chemistry and Technology.

É Referee regular de diversas revistas científicas.

É autor/co-autor de 8 capítulos de livros, e cerca de 180 artigos em revistas SCI

Caracterização química e aproveitamento de materiais agro-florestais:

Desenvolvimento de novos materiais poliméricos a partir de recursos renováveis.

Modificação química de polissacarídeos.

Caracterização química de componentes da madeira, estudo do seu comportamento ao longo do processo de produção de pasta de papel;

Caracterização química e aproveitamento de subprodutos da industria da pasta de papel;

Caracterização química e aproveitamento de subprodutos da industria corticeira;

Utilização de técnicas cromatográficas e em particular (GC-MS e HPLC-MS) na análise de compostos orgânicos.
