Licenciatura em Engenharia Cerâmica e do Vidro (1988) e mestrado em Ciência e Engenharia de Materiais (1992), ambos na Universidade de Aveiro (UA). De 1992 a 1997 foi quadro superior na empresa Vitricer/Fritta (fornecedor de fritas, vidrados, tintas serigráficas, etc, para a industria cerâmica). Posteriormente, até 2000, foi chefe do departamento de desenvolvimento de produto da empresa Revigrés (fábrica de pavimentos e revestimentos cerâmicos). Iniciou o doutoramento na UA (2000) em cerâmicos dieléctricos para aplicação à frequência das microondas e fez um estágio de pós-doutoramento, na mesma universidade, no desenvolvimento e caracterização de argamassas para reabilitação. É investigadora no CICECO desde 2008.

Interesses científicos

Desenvolvimento e implementação industrial de novos produtos cerâmicos, nomeadamente, pigmentos, materiais com novas funcionalidades de superfície e materiais porosos.

Reciclagem – Desenvolvimento de pigmentos inorgânicos, clínquer e geopolímeros a partir de resíduos industriais promovendo, em alguns casos, a inertização de materiais tóxicos.
Fotocatálise – Deposição e estudo da actividade fotocatalítica (descontaminação gasosa e aquosa, auto-limpeza e propriedades antibacterianas) de camadas de TiO2.
Argamassas – Formulação e teste de argamassas de cal aérea com novas funcionalidades.
Materiais cerâmicos tradicionais – Desenvolvimento e optimização de materiais porosos para pavimento e revestimento.
